Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to get something framed?

The price is based on a variety of factors - the biggest factors are size, moulding (frame) choice, and glass type.

How long does it take?

Turnaround time is based on our current workload – at the moment this can range from 3 to 7 weeks (can be longer for complicated projects)

Why does custom framing take so long?

The main reason is the volume of orders we have.  We work on orders in the order we receive them, so if there are 275 orders ahead of you, those will get made before yours.

How does custom framing work?

First, our design team will go over your project with you, and make design suggestions based on your preferences. Then, our woodshop creates and finishes the frame, and delivers the frame to the stores.   Finally, the fitting - this is when your art gets fitted into the frame along with all the other parts. The fitting happens at the store, so your artwork never leaves the shop until you come to pick up your finished piece.

Where does your wood come from?

Our supplier for the hardwood that we use for our closed corner frames (also based in Brooklyn) sources their wood from up and down the Appalachian Trail, from South of the Canadian border to north of the Mason Dixon line.   They do not go west of Ohio unless necessary.   It is all grown in the US.
